Hey, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What have you been up to over the past year in this big old mess?

I’ve been working as a high school teacher and producing as much music as I can.

I’m very interested in how you started your adventure with music, and did you know from the beginning that this is what you wanted to do?

No, but it’s been a big part of my life since the beginning. I grew up around hi-fi stereo systems. I started playing bass when I was fifteen. Things went from there.

Congrats on the release of ‘Norman Cres’, the EP sounds great. What was the inspiration behind it?

Thank you! Norman Cres is where I live (Brisbane, Australia). It’s quite leafy and green. I took the cover photo from my balcony. Feel like these four songs are self-contained, and it just felt right to release.

What’s your favorite track on the EP and why?

Always New. It was a laborious process (went through 3-4 iterations), but I really like the final result. It has an ethereal quality – something I’ve been striving for since I began recording music in 2017.

What are you doing to ensure you continue to grow and develop as an artist?

My friend Job Cran is a virtuoso guitarist. He inspires me to keep trying out new techniques, and music concepts. He’s a great musician, so it’s fun to apply these concepts to my own writing.

Everyone I meet in my life inspires me to keep at it. Nothing is more satisfying than a positive atmosphere. This directly informs my own writing – an opportunity to see something from a different perspective, and reflect.

What should we expect from your next releases in terms of style and sound?

How different are they going to be compared to your previous works? The production is improving all the time. The music is developing all the time. I think it will be different. More hooks. Bigger sound.

Where are you based? Can you tell us how the music scene there has inspired your sound at all?

Brisbane, Australia. It’s inspired me to form a band, and collaborate with artists and musicians; create something unique. I enjoy chatting before and after shows. It’s fun.

If you could perform at any venue in the world, where would it be and why?

Mercury Lounge in NYC. The Triffid here in Brisbane would be cool.

Finally, have you got anything to share regarding upcoming gigs, and what have you got planned for the rest of 2022? No gigs at the moment. New LP sometime in 2023. Thank you!
