Heavy and melodic, pulling from post-punk, darkwave, pop and gothic themes, Lies We Were Told have been playing and recording in Portland, Oregon since 2013. Their sound, though unique, is reminiscent of earlier bands like Killing Joke and Joy Division, evoking a sound from another era, while remaining at home alongside modern bands in the post-punk revival camp such as Interpol, Editors, and The Faint.

Lies We Were Told landed on our radar a couple of weeks back and for a good reason, and today we’re excited to share that they have released her 4-track EP titled “Dark Days”. There are a lot of great things to say about the EP but some of our favorite takeaways involve how rich and original the band’s sound is.

“Dark Days” highlights the band’s powerful and rich vocals that deserve your attention from start to finish. One of our favorites? it’s hard to pick just one, but “Faltering” and “Entropy” are powerful and easy to follow, and we are sure you will love them as well. As the EP is by far one of the most impressive and powerful materials we’ve heard in months. Check it out for yourself and be sure to let us know what you think, and don’t forget to connect with Lies We Were Told online to stay up-to-date!
