Hi! So that our readers can know a bit more about you, please introduce CARAVÃNA SUN

We’re a six piece band from the southern beaches of Sydney Australia. Our major focus over the years has centered around the ocean and touring to places wherever the stages meet the sea. Our passion for the ocean has seen us partner with the likes of Sea Shepherd and the netflix no1 documentary ‘Seaspiracy’ to lend our voices to causes that align with our values. Blending electronic sounds with dub & groove based music, we’ve toured around Australia, Europe and the UK for the past 12 years. Taking our live show to festivals like Boardmasters, Bestival and an array of European open airs. Performing to over 6000 people in Winterbach.

You recently released your latest single ‘Moments’ and it’s brilliant. For anyone who’s yet to hear it, how would you describe the track?

Moments is a shift for the band into a more electronic and live sound. With synthesizers and strong vocal melodys designed to full big speakers for the 1am slot at a festival. Neon lights, sparkly dresses and an overall obsession with the dancefloor.

Where did you record it?

We recorded it in Ant Enoch’s studio in Sydney south-west. Bankstown is the multicultural hub of Australia, lined with Vietnamese and Lebanese cuisine. The studio is tucked away in an industrial mattress factory, with us recording between the hours of 8pm – 3am.

Your music interweaves so many different styles and sounds. If you could collaborate with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?

We’d love to collaborate with Fat Freddys Drop from Aoteroa. We’ve shared a few stages with them and been drawn and enthralled with their sound. Anytime in the studio with those guys would be incredible!

What’s been your favorite musical experience to date?

We wrote our record ‘Guerilla Club’ up in the Northwest tip of Australia. A small pearl farm, 3000km north of Perth. Surrounded by boab trees, red dirt and a huge open sky, we wrote most of the songs in a make shift bungalow, on the edge of the water. Feet firmly placed on Bardi/ Jawi country, we sang and connected to the land like we never had before and came away with such a beautiful respect for such and incredible part of the world.

Where are you based? Can you tell us how the music scene there has inspired your sound at all?

We’re based in the southern beaches of Sydney. The music scene here has been a beautiful playground for us to spend most of our time surfing and fishing for lobsters, then having a quick outdoor shower before delving into the studio. This close relationship with the nature has helped us stay grounded and create music that truly resonates with us.

Can you write what was the best performance in your career? How do you remember it?

Winterbach, Germany 2019. We played an open air show with our German brothers, La Brass Banda. Performing to over 6000 people, we all recalled the experience as a bit of a blur. Overwhelming, inspiring and incredibly exciting, to see that many people lose their minds with us is something we’ll forever hold onto.

Can we expect a new EP or an album from you in the near future?

An album! We’re just gathering some more stories from the road for our songs and we’ll hopefully have it out by mid 2024.

Finally, have you got anything to share regarding upcoming gigs, and what have you got planned for 2023?

We’re just about to begin our European tour in July & August. Full with shows around Germany, The Netherlands, France and the UK. We’re super excited to get on the road and party with everyone at the shows x
