Hey, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What have you been up to over the past year in this big old mess?
Nice to meet you too and thanks for having me on LITN. After co-vid hit, I was kept super busy composing and doing sound design on a number of short and feature films that were in post production at the time, and that has continued through ’til today luckily.
What first got you into music?
I used to sit and watch a ‘garage’ band practice on the weekends at a hall (at the end of my street). I knew that was what I wanted to do.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
I am already collaborating with an amazing Californian singer Nomi Abadi which is a dream come true already. (And maybe Lady Gaga or Miley Cyrus too lol…)
Your latest song is ‘You’ll Feel Nothing‘. Can you tell us more about the making of it and if there were any unusual things happening during the process?
Yes, YFN is my first song release. I originally wrote it for a scene in a cyberpunk scifi film, and I decided to continue on with it and reimagine it as a hybrid cyberpunk/pop/dance track. The song process was unusual – it wasn’t planned and just seemed to unfold- and it began when my very dear friend and talent lyricist Janet Rebecca Taylor said she could reimagine/rewrite the lyrics for the song. After that I approached Nomi to see if she was interested in adding her vocals to the track and then when she said yes, the song got its ‘wings’.
What are you focusing on right now?
I’m focussing on a number of areas: Writing music each week for some awesome TV shows (with Primerchord Music), Doing freelance composing and sound design for short and feature films – mainly thriller, scifi, action, horror genres. I’m also doing regular corporate music work (eg for documentaries and travel/real estate businesses). And also I would like to write and produce another song or two with Nomi and Janet!
You are also based in Brisbane, Australia. Can you tell us how the music scene there has inspired your sound at all?
It hasn’t inspired my current sound, but I spent years playing 4-5x week doing (singing, playing guitar) live shows in Brisbane clubs/pubs in a covers band, duo and solo show, and had a ton of fun doing this. Brisbane is a great place to live and has a buzzing live music scene (mainly alt rock).
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Probably three quotes always stick with me: “Make hay while the sun shines”, “Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards” and “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. Its not advice as such, but those quotes remind me to make the most of each day, also don’t try and overanalyse things- just roll with it and let things play out. These words also remind me to surround myself with ‘good’ people.
What is the biggest challenge of being an artist?
Being a composer, the biggest challenge is the solitary nature of composing, so I always make sure I collaborate regularly with other composers/musicians to keep things interesting.
How do you structure your day?
I’m not very structured, and tend to roll with whatever is happening around me. Early mornings and late nights is ‘quiet time’ when I’m most productive.
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music?
I used to travel locally/internationally alot pre co-vid, but not much recently. Any spare time at the moment is spent hanging out with family and friends.

Follow my nose- lots of music opportunities coming my way so just choosing what feels right. I’m loving writing and producing songs like YFN, so I’m sure there will be another single release down the track and would love to work with both Nomi and Janet again in this ‘realm’.
