Hi! For those that haven’t heard of you yet, how would you best describe your sound, and who have been your biggest influences so far?

Hey there! My sound comes from a place of old country and I hope it conveys to the listeners the charm, the gentleness, and the class I enjoy so much in traditional country music. My influences were the crooners and the country crooners! I’ve learnt to sing by listening to Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, Jim Reeves, Marty Robbins and Elvis. My latest single, however, will take you back to the 90s or even the 80s, and has a touch of Waylon Jennings and Brooks and Dunn.

Do you remember what the first song was that made you want to start a career in music?

Oh! Good question! I think the first song I remember dancing and performing to while standing on the couch when I was kid was ‘’Much Too Young’’ by Garth Brooks.

You have just released your new single ‘Last Country Bar’. Can you tell us how that track came about?

Mitch Merrett was the one to have me listen to it first, and he got it through his friendship with Kelly Archer who is one of the track’s songwriters. The song is a celebration of the days of live music, two-stepping crowds, and good old-fashioned Friday nights. Simple goodness.

And how would you say it compares to your previous releases?

It is not as high-energy as my last single, a cheeky song called “Lookin’ Like That”. “Last Country Bar” is more suited to late night slow dancing in a more intimate setting.

Where are you based? Can you tell us how the music scene there has inspired your sound at all?

I now live in Chestermere, Alberta. I enjoy the Calgary music scene because it is vibrant, and the songwriters here are eager to get together and create. People love their country music here and it’s just so rewarding for artists like me to give the audience what it wants.

What is the biggest challenge of being an artist?

Crippling self-doubt that often makes me forget how blessed and privileged I am to be doing this. So the challenge is always to look at it from a standpoint of gratitude. I always try to look at the blessing instead of the ambition.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given as a musician?

The best advice was given to me by friend Johann Wagner from Austin. It was “Stay playful about it, y’all’’.

What’s next for you? Is there more music or live shows on the way?

I will soon announce many new 2023 show dates for live performances across Canada and in the USA. Of course, I will also be releasing new music in the coming months, so stay tuned!
