Hi! You recently released ‘What Do You Do With No One?’ and it’s brilliant. For anyone who’s yet to hear it, how would you describe the track?

I would describe ‘What Do You Do With No One?’ as an 80s inspired, ethereal, catchy, and relatable song about being alone. It’s perfect for the winter months, and I hope it makes listeners feel less lonely.

Where did you record it?

I recorded it at my home in Baltimore, MD. I set up a little studio with sound panels and my recording equipment to get the best sounding product. I think it gives the song a warmer sound.

Are you planning to make it part of a larger release, such as an EP or album?

No, I chose this song to be my first release to stand alone from the rest of my work. After a couple more singles though I’m planning to release a larger project.

I’m very interested in how you started your adventure with music, and did you know from the beginning that this is what you wanted to do?

I’ve always played music. My dad’s a musician and I’ve played piano for 14 years now, so I felt it was always an option for a career. When I started songwriting and producing though I found a passion that I didn’t have before that took over my musical life. It was all I did through the pandemic, and when normal life resumed it was all I wanted to be doing. That’s when I really decided that I was going into this specific field of the music industry.

Your music interweaves so many different styles and sounds. If you could collaborate with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?

If I could collaborate with anyone in the world it would be Phantogram or STRFKR. I really love both of their production styles and I find their songs both interesting and catchy. They’re my biggest musical inspirations that are alive right now, and I would be honored to collaborate with them.

What’s been your favorite musical experience to date?

Two summers ago, I did an NYU summer intensive called the Summer High School of Recorded Music. Through this intensive I was so inspired by my peers that I made 2 songs a week for a month. Some of my best work. I also made good friends that I’m still in contact with. I really love being surrounded by talented musicians so I can feel driven to succeed and feel inspired from all of their different sounds.

Where are you based? Can you tell us how the music scene there has inspired your sound at all?

Right now I am based in Boston, MA, as I am attending Berklee College of Music. When I’m not in school I’m in Baltimore, MD. Baltimore has definitely influenced my sound, as I like Baltimore artists. I am a big fan of Dan Deacon and Beach House, and I use some of their synth sounds as inspiration. Boston has influenced my sound through giving me lots of connections to other artists at Berklee. It’s also an extremely young city so the music people are listening to is mostly new, which is where I can fit in here.

If you could perform at any venue in the world, where would it be and why?

Me and my friends in Baltimore would go to this venue in Washington, DC called The Anthem. I saw Kaytranada there and the Flaming Lips. I really like the space as it feels pretty intimate while having a high capacity. The stage has lots of capabilities for props and the sound is always amazing. I would feel super nostalgic and grateful performing there as I always enjoy going to shows there.

And what was the first album you remember owning?

The first album I remember owning was ‘Beauty and the Beat’ by the Go-Go’s on my iPod. I remember every day when I would ride the train to school, I would listen to ‘We Got The Beat’ over and over again. I also had the Bangles’ Greatest Hits on my iPod, and Manic Monday was my alarm song for school.

Finally, have you got anything to share regarding upcoming gigs, and what have you got planned for the rest of 2022?

As for upcoming gigs, not at the moment. I will probably do a few open mics before the end of the year, but nothing serious. For the rest of 2022, I am going to continue promoting ‘What Do You Do With No One?’, possibly record a live version and video, and work on my next release which for now will remain a secret!
