Hey, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What have you been up to over the past year in this big old mess?

Just trying to make meaningful music and trying to finish up and release my latest song which pays homage to long haul truckers around the world.

I’m very interested in how you started your adventure with music, and did you know from the beginning that this is what you wanted to do?

Well, I started singing in the youth choir in church, continued in my high school’s concert choir, and later formed a band when I got to Los Angeles. But, as a kindergartner, my mother played Motown records and taught me three-part harmony. So, I guess you could say I knew from the beginning.

Congrats on your new release, ‘My Restraining Order (Won’t Do)’. Can you give us some insight into it?

Unfortunately, every single word in the song is the gospel truth, so it’s kind of a cathartic song and the feedback from other women has been amazing. Even male deejays have said the song is very empowering. Anytime that my songs can be helpful in empowering anyone, I’m just elated and thankful, because empowering others makes it so worthwhile.

What are you doing to ensure you continue to grow and develop as an artist?

Well, I’m continuing with my guitar lessons, listening to more music from various artists from around the world, and trying to better learn the business aspect of just being an artist. There’s always so much more to learn on all of those levels.

What should we expect from your next releases in terms of style and sound? How different are they going to be compared to your previous works?

In my next song, I’m incorporating some different instruments. I’m using the saxophone as well as the vibraphone, but it will still have that Southern, country-soul flavor. I don’t like to bore myself or the listener, so each song is very different, but my style and sound will always be recognizable, since my sound is rather guttural and gritty.

Where are you based?

Currently, I’m based in California, but I’m looking to move to the country music capital, Nashville, Tennessee.

Can you tell us how the music scene there has inspired your sound at all?

Well, it’s Los Angeles, so it’s a great mecca of music, so I think you get a little bit of inspiration from just being here and listening to so many bands around the city.

If you could perform at any venue in the world, where would it be and why?

The Grand Ole Opry, of course. But then I guess that goes without saying for someone who sings this kind of music. But after that, I would say The Hollywood Bowl because it’s been kind of my backyard for many years. I used to love to go there, and it’s also a very famous place to play for any artist of any genre.

Can we expect a new EP or an album from you in the near future?

Oh definitely, but I can’t give an exact date just yet, so we’ll have to make sure we talk again sometime in near future, if that’s okay? At least, I’d love to chat again.

Finally, have you got anything to share regarding upcoming gigs, and what have you got planned for 2023?

In 2023, my plan is to have the number one song in the country and be nominated and win the Country Music Association Award for New Artist of the Year. If I can accomplish those goals, I’ll be ever so happy and so grateful.
